Troop 523 was first chartered in 1985. The troop serves the boys of Colonia, Iselin, Avenel, Rahway, Clark, and Edison.  Troop 523 has an active outdoor program with outings almost every month.  The troop has over 40 boys, and the senior scouts provide much of the planning and leadership.  The troop is sponsored by Saint John Vianney School, and meets there in the gym every Tuesday evening during the school year.  The second Tuesday of each month is Parent night and an assistant scoutmaster runs a small meeting with parents to keep them informed of upcoming troop activities.  Scoutmaster meetings are the 3rd Sunday of every month.  Troop Committee meetings are the 2nd Monday, and Patrol Leadership Council meetings are the first Wednesday of the month.  Annual dues are $45.00 and uniforms are required.  Saint John Vianney's is located at 420 Inman Avenue in Colonia NJ.
